A.K.A. Lactobacillus Bulgaricus. These ones were given to us by V's niece Eugenia for whom caring for live cultures is a relatively new hobby.
They look a bit like popcorn with the texture of gnocchi. Here V is treating them to their daily ablutions, after which they are left to soak overnight in milk at room temperature, which produces the yoghurt.
It's a bit sour on the tongue, but throw in a few sweet bananos morados and a dollop of honey and you have a very nice breakfast...along with the other ingredients in this photo.
